La Peregrina is For Sale!
Few vessels are as beautiful, sturdy, and well-suited for bluewater sailing as a Cabo Rico. And La Peregrina is unique among Cabo Ricos for being so well-equipped for long-distance sailing, and for being so accustomed to being at sea.
Designed by Bill Crealock, La Peregrina is a 1989 Cabo Rico 34. She is hull #3 of thirty-two built. Over the past 10 years, I've sailed her more than 36,000 miles. Ports of call have included the Bahamas, Turks & Caicos, Cuba, Honduras, Guatemala, Cayman Islands, Belize, Mexico, the U.S. East Coast from Louisiana to Canada, the Windward and Leeward Islands, and across the Atlantic to Bermuda, Azores, Madeira, Canary Islands, Cabo Verde, and back. It’s been amazing, and it’s been a blast!
Much of this travel has been as “Offshore Adventure Sailing,” a skippered-charter sailing venture. The boat has traveled an average of six-months-a-year for the past decade, often with paying guest sailors. By necessity, she has been well-equipped and well-maintained. Here’s a selection of major upgrades and maintenance items:
New Axiom 9 Pro chartplotter - Feb ‘25
New Hydrovane - Jan ‘23
New cabin cushion foam and covers - Jan ‘23
Total engine rebuild - Feb ‘22
New Raymarine AIS 700 - Jan ‘22
New dodger & bimini - Jan ‘21
New Mack Pack mainsail cover & lazy jacks - Oct ‘20
New lifelines - Oct ‘20
New Mack Sails - May ‘19
New Raymarine ACU 400 autopilot - 2018
New Rocna anchor and 200’ anchor chain - 2015
Inevitably, La Peregrina’s new owner will want to change or add something. But she needs very little; she could easily cross the Atlantic in 2026. She could be ready to head south toward the Bahamas after a grocery run. Literally. She’s full of diesel fuel, water, and propane. Where do you want to go?
