The Next Big Adventure

Offshore Adventure Sailing is ceasing operations. I will not be offering a Fall 2025 - Spring 2026 sailing season.

I genuinely love sharing the magic of sailing with interesting people. What an extraordinary time I’ve had over the past seven years! In the good company of 80 sailors, we’ve sailed roughly 33,000 nautical miles to 21 countries. We’ve sailed in flat calm water and big uncomfortable seas. We’ve transited narrow inlets, and the wide-open ocean. We’ve run aground, experienced mechanical failures, and had sails ripped to shreds. We’ve seen incredible beauty and fearsome power. It’s been the real thing, and I’ve loved it all.

This is not a financial decision. OAS was established as a for-profit venture, and it has succeeded in allowing me to keep La Peregrina well-equipped and well-maintained, and to sail longer and farther than I dared to hope.

There is much magic in this world. Sailing, as amazing as it is, is not the only place to be awestruck. I’m stepping away from Offshore Adventure Sailing to seek wonderment in other ways. Like all adventures, I’m not sure how this will play out. But I expect to spend more time in the mountains, to volunteer in my community, and to meet new people in new places. I’ll continue to sail, of course, though we plan to put La Peregrina up for sale. There is no melancholy here; I’m excited about the path ahead!

What has made Offshore Adventure Sailing so memorable and enjoyable for me is the people who have joined me. It has been my honor to sail with sailors from 21 US states, plus Germany, the UK, and Mexico.
